Holiday Rentals USA The United States of America is home to some of the world’s most dramatic landscapes; national parks featuring pristine lakes, verdant forests and breathtaking geological formations. It is also home to some of the world’s finest, most cultural cities outside of Europe. This combination of cosmopolitan charm and rugged, natural beauty makes the United States a superb vacation destination. Furthermore, the drop in the value of the dollar has allowed many to rediscover the American dream, and vacations to the United States for sightseeing as well as shopping are becoming ever more popular among Europeans.
Follow your own personal Manifest Destiny by beginning your tour of the United States on the East Coast, and heading West. Start at the breathtaking Niagara Falls, and head down into New England, which is chock full of historical attractions. Firstly, however, anything less than a week in Manhattan would be a crime. Ascend the Empire State Building, which lets you take a big bite out of the Big Apple, as far as panoramic views go. Another great place to visit is the historic, bohemian Greenwich Village.
After New York, head down the coast to Washington DC, the nation’s capital doused in white, featuring a series of impressive monuments including the Lincoln memorial, the White House, the Washington Monument, the Vietnam Memorial and many other historical attractions. Nearby Jamestown is a living, breathing museum, representative of the colonial United States of centuries past, with live actors dressing for the occasion, and displaying the rudimentary way of life that the early settlers had to tolerate.
Those feeling a thirst for Latin Culture would be well advised to slip down into Miami, the Gateway to the Americas. Much of Florida could be confused with the scenic Caribbean; the Florida Keys are second only to the US Virgin Islands which offer by far the most romantic and secluded getaways: full of powdery white sandy beaches and palm trees.
Latin Culture can also be found in Los Angeles, a vibrant, cultural city where local Hollywood has had a heavy hand in shaping the world’s cinematic narrative over the past century. It all started here. Walk with the stars; you’re bound to spot a few by the time you leave. Move on up the West Coast to San Francisco, a delightful destination full of world famous attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge and the quirky, multi-colored Victorian houses that give this port city its unique, off-beat charm.
Head inland to Yosemite; see geological wonders such as Half Dome and El Capitán, and enjoy hiking to the numerous waterfalls that cascade into this dreamlike and monumental valley. Then hop on over to Las Vegas, the fastest growing city and a spectacular extravaganza of neon lights, craps tables and quality entertainment. These days, you can even bring your family. Also be sure to check out Yellowstone National Park, which has an impressive collection of live geysers.
Further up the West Coast, you’ll find the progenitor of countless epic rock bands, as well as Starbucks coffee; Seattle. Head inland to the gruff, working class, yet enchanting city of Chicago and you’ll have just about seen it all! |
