France Weather

With France stretching over 210 000 square miles, it is naturally almost impossible to pin French weather down with one general overview. Where you choose to take your holiday will obviously affect what weather you can expect when you're there! Northern and northwestern France enjoy a 'maritime' climate, courtesy of the long coastline, with mild winters and warm summers. The southwest of France also has a mild climate, but boasts warmer summers with only sporadic rain storms. Central and Eastern France tend to have colder winters than Northern France, but also warmer summers. The Mediterranean coast of France boasts mild, often sunny, winters and hot summers with occasional thunderstorms. Meanwhile the mountainous areas in France tend to have wet, cold winters with lots of snow, and mild, sunny, changeable summers. It is always a good idea is to check the weather predictions online for the area you want to visit, and the season you want to visit it. However, the temperature guides below will give you an idea of what to expect.
