Windsurfers and kite surfers will be happy to know that among the water sports launched from the endless beaches of Paros, theirs is one of the most compatible to the superb wind conditions here.
A more inland natural attraction is the emerald Valley of the Butterflies at Petaloudes Park, which, during May and June, becomes a captivating gorge full of the silent fluttering of beautiful winged butterflies. You must experience this spectacle in person to understand the sense of deep inner peace that unfolds from being surrounded by these magical creatures of wing.
Lovers of art should note that it’s Parian marble mined from this island that is the rock used in the Venus de Milo sculpture found in Paris’ Louvre. While the marble was carried away by the masters, the mountain remains, a breathtaking monument. Hike to the top to capture amazing panoramic vistas of the Cyclades. Luxury lodging in resorts and private rental apartments is big, with many options available to the short-term traveler – even many homes that will put up for a night or two.
