Later on, one dance club that is definitely worth checking out is The Cathouse, where live rock bands play to the throbbing pulse of a younger, sexier crowd. Looking for more high culture in Glasgow? The Tron Theatre is a mecca for experimental drama performances. Also, The Kings Theatre is a notch above the sweaty nightlife scene, and is a great place to see traveling acts coming through town. The Pavillion Theatre is a great place to take the family for lighthearted performances in a modern building.
Historical attractions in Glasgow are few and far between, and there’s a general sense that the locals like it this way. Indeed, Glasgow is really a living rejection of the museum-like Edinburgh, which is pretty but lacks the gritty, working-class flavor and industrial flavor from which Glasgow is emerging like the Firebird as a veritable cultural capital in Europe.
Indeed, already two decades ago Glasgow was awarded the distinction of being a European Culture Capital, as it emerges from a sooty past to become one of the most vibrant and innovative city’s in arts and architecture. And by seeing the number of innovative buildings fueled by the increasing wealth in Britain, that culture today is accelerating.
